UMS is chosen as GaN foundry supplier for the European Magnus project.
MAGNUS (GaN with UMS) is an initiative launched by the European Defense Agency involving 5 countries (France, Germany, NL, Sweden and UK) in the development of a new generation of equipments based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. The major European Defense companies (THALES , AIRBUS Defense & Space, SELEX and SAAB with Thales as coordinator) were challenged to develop innovative GaN MMICs. United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) was selected as the unique provider of GaN foundry services with its 0.25µm GaN on SiC technology (GH25).
UMS has demonstrated its capability to offer a high level of GaN foundry services including wafer manufacturing, device characterization, on-wafer test, dicing,… to support the development of various state-of-the-art demonstrators – High Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers and Power Switches from S to Ku-band – designed by the Magnus partners. This successful project has confirmed the position of UMS as a major worldwide GaN MMIC foundry supplier.
